May 31, 2025 – I had cataract surgery on both eyes during April. Normal people get cataract surgery, recover quickly, and rave about their improved vision.
Then there’s me.
My first eye was about 20/20 after its surgery. A few weeks later, it began to cloud up, until everything became pretty much a white blur by the end of each day. It apparently had a viral infection that crudded up the surface of the cornea. But with eyedrops, ointment, and pills, it began to clear up pretty fast.
Now my distance vision without glasses is great–a weird thing for me, since I’ve been very near-sighted my whole life. Being far-sighted now is strange, and sort of annoying, not being able to see anything closer than about 5 feet clearly without computer glasses or reading glasses.
But my regular eye doctor and the surgeon who did my cataract surgery agree my eyes are finally stable enough to prescribe glasses. I’m looking forward to having trusty trifocals again!
Maybe I’ll write better when I can see what I’m doing.
